Cumulus is a 100% male hybrid that is suitable for white asparagus production in northern and central Europe.  This is an early hybrid with high yields. Cumulus has an excellent flavour.

Cultivation

Cumulus is suitable for cultivation under black/white sheeting, as well as cultivation in tunnels or mini tunnels. It is an early variety with a strikingly high percentage of class 1 stems. The recommended planting density is four plants per linear metre

Product

Cumulus is a very pale white asparagus with smooth, thick stems of a very good quality. Cumulus has well-closed tips and has little or no susceptibility to hollow stems or rust.

Foliage

The foliage is highly branched, very large, and has a reasonably open structure. For the sturdiness of the foliage in Cumulus, it is important to ensure an optimum ratio between potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
